How many gray wolfs are left?
As of 2021, there are approximately 60,000 gray wolves remaining in the world. Most of them are found in North America, with approximately 26,000 wolves in Canada and 5,400 in the United States. Smaller populations are found in Europe, Russia, and China. Although wolf populations have been decimated due to hunting and habitat loss in many areas, their populations are currently relatively stable, and in some instances, even growing.
