What wolves hunt?

Wolves are carnivorous mammals that belong to the family Canidae. They are apex predators and primarily hunt ungulates, which are large hoofed mammals. Some of the most common prey species of wolves include:

- Deer (various species, such as white-tailed deer, mule deer, elk)

- Moose

- Caribou

- Bison

- Pronghorn

- Sheep (including domestic sheep and bighorn sheep)

- Goats

- Musk oxen

Wolves may also occasionally prey on smaller mammals, such as rabbits, hares, and rodents, as well as birds and fish. They typically hunt in packs, where they cooperate to chase and bring down their quarry.
