Things You'll Need
- Treats
- Balls
- Stuffed toys
- Plastic children's swimming pool
Instructions
Test a number of treats to see what your mini pig likes best. Small bits of cheese, miniature carrots, and small chunks of apple appeal to most pigs. If your pig likes fatty treats such as cheeses and proteins, give them sparingly to avoid excess weight gain.
Toss a ball for you mini pig. Call the pig to you and show it the ball. Throw the ball a few feet in front of you, walking towards the ball as you tell the pig "ball." Reward the pig with a treat when it touches the ball with its nose. Continue throwing the ball until the pig chases the ball without guidance.
Give your mini pig a few stuffed toys. Pigs enjoy the soft texture of stuffed toys and will happily carry then around. Scatter the toys around the yard and ask the pig to find the stuffies. Offer the pig a treat when he brings the toys back to you.
Fill a plastic children's swimming pool with water, and float a handful of treats in the water to encourage the pig to climb in. Pigs have very few sweat glands and enjoy a good swim to cool off. If your pig is reluctant to get in the pool, cradle it in your arms and gently set it in the water. Change the water weekly, or when it gets muddy.
