Things You'll Need
- Pig Feed
- Pig Finishing Feeds
- Pig Starter Feeds
- Commercially Prepared Pellets For Potbellied Pigs
Instructions
Provide a well-balanced diet of commercially prepared pellets formulated specifically for potbellied pigs, along with fruits and vegetables.
Use pellets that contain 12 percent protein and 2 percent fat.
Avoid feeding your pig cat or dog food.
Provide fresh water at all times.
Avoid feeding your pet table scraps. Doing so will only encourage begging, which could escalate into aggressive, demanding behavior.
Take appropriate precautions against indoor/outdoor plant poisonings (see "How to Treat Plant Poisoning in Pets.")
Assess if your pig is overweight. You should be able to feel your pig's ribs and hipbones. Jowls should be moderately loose.
Try not to let your pig become obese. When pigs are obese, fat collects around eye folds and impairs vision.
