Things You'll Need
- Foam cooler with lid
- Clay bricks
- Vermiculite
- Digital humidity/temperature gauge
- Duct tape
- Plastic food storage container with lid
- Aquarium heater
Instructions
Fill cooler with 1-to-2 inches of water. Water promotes a warm, humid environment for incubation. Place the bricks in the water to act as a rack for your egg box.
Fill the plastic storage box halfway full with vermiculite. Moisten it thoroughly, making sure it is completely damp, but not dripping wet. Create indentations with your fingers for the eggs. Place the temperature/humidity gauge into the egg box.
Tape the plastic lid to one side of the egg box at a 60-degree angle. The lid prevents the eggs from getting direct moisture. Angling the lid prevents any water from pooling on top and possibly spilling onto the eggs.
Submerge the heater into the water. After setting the heater to the desired temperature, drop it into the water. You may want to cut a small niche in one of the top corners of your cooler for the heater's cord. Doing this will ensure a tighter fit for the lid.
