Cattle Ultrasound Training

Cattle, or bovine, ultrasound diagnosis requires highly specialized imaging techniques. Ultrasound is the top diagnostic tool available for improving reproductive efficiency on the cattle farm. It provides earlier and more accurate diagnosis, fetal detection, fetal viability and gender determination.
  1. Basic Training

    • Basic bovine ultrasound courses familiarize students with ultrasound practice through practical applications and explanation of ultrasound basics and theory. During the course of study, students read ultrasound images to identify ovarian structures, uterine pathology, early pregnancy diagnosis, diagnosis of multiple fetuses, and perform fetal sexing.

    Advanced Training

    • Experienced bovine reproductive ultrasonographers learn to incorporate ultrasound technology with timed artificial insemination (AI) in a procedure called embryo transfer. Advanced courses typically include a wet laboratory for students to gain hands-on experience in a cattle farm setting.
