How to Breed Button Quail

Button quail are the smallest breed of quail. They are about 4 inches long and like the company of other quail. Button quail have short lives, for the most part. It is not untypical for a female button quail to only live for 18 months, so the quail must breed young. You can start breeding your button quail after they are fully grown, which is 1 or 2 months old. With a little bit of reconstructing and some extra space, you will have a button quail breeding ground.

Instructions

    • 1

Create a breeding space for your button quail. Do this by gathering a small tank or cage that is at least four square feet, but the bigger the better. If the quail are in too small of a space, they will start to fight.

    • 2

Cover the tank or cage with wood chips and create hiding spaces for the female. The female button quail likes to hide from her mate to feel secure. Add hiding places by putting blocks of wood and silk plants inside the cage.

    • 3

Place one male and one female in the breeding grounds you created. Allow them to run around and get to know their area first. Leave them alone. The button quail will breed when they are ready.
