Why does a zorse not produce fertile offspring?

A zorse is the offspring of a zebra and a horse. Zebras and horses are different species, and their offspring are therefore hybrids. Hybrids are usually sterile, meaning they cannot produce fertile offspring. This is because the chromosomes of the two different species do not match up correctly, which can lead to problems with meiosis. Meiosis is the process by which gametes (eggs and sperm) are produced, and it is essential for sexual reproduction. If meiosis is disrupted, the resulting gametes will be non-functional and the hybrid will be sterile.

In addition to the problems with meiosis, zorse offspring may also suffer from other health problems, such as dwarfism, skeletal abnormalities, and immune deficiencies. These problems are all caused by the fact that the zorse is a hybrid of two different species. The zorse is not a viable species, and it cannot reproduce successfully.
