What hunts wild mustangs?

The primary predator of wild mustangs in the modern era is mountain lions, also known as cougars or pumas. They are solitary, powerful cats native to the Americas and often prey on large mammals found in the same environments where wild mustangs live, such as the western regions of the United States. Additionally, wolves, if they were present in significant numbers near herds of mustangs, could also hunt and prey on them. It is worth noting that in historical times, humans have been the largest hunters of wild mustangs, capturing or hunting them for various purposes.
