1. Park the mower on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Engage the parking brake.
3. Open the hood of the mower.
4. Locate the accelerator linkage. It is a metal rod that connects the accelerator pedal to the carburetor.
5. Check the linkage for any damage or wear. Look for any loose or broken parts, as well as any bends or kinks in the rod.
6. If you find any damage, you will need to repair or replace the linkage.
7. To adjust the linkage, loosen the locknut on the accelerator linkage.
8. Turn the adjustment screw on the linkage to adjust the amount of slack in the linkage. The linkage should have a little bit of slack so that the throttle can move freely, but it should not be so loose that the throttle does not respond when you press the accelerator pedal.
9. Once you have adjusted the linkage, tighten the locknut.
