Things You'll Need
- Primer
- Nontoxic paint
- Paintbrush
Instructions
Find temporary accommodation for the rabbit. Clean out the cage thoroughly, and lightly sand any surfaces that you are going to paint.
Prime the cage first if it is made of bare wood. Allow the primer to dry for at least one hour if it is water-based, and 24 hours if it is oil-based.
Paint the cage using a paintbrush. Only paint solid surfaces. Don't attempt to paint screens or wire. For best results, apply paint very thinly, allow it to dry, and then apply another thin coat. This will look better and last longer than a single thick coat, which might run or look lumpy.
Close the paint can by tapping the lid on with a hammer after you are finished painting. Clean water-based paint off of brushes using water. Clean oil-based paint off with paint thinner.
