Things You'll Need
- Foam noodles
- Water resistant fabric
- Sewing machine or a heavy duty needle and thread
- Tape measure
- Tracing paper
- Scissors
Instructions
Measure the width and length of the livestock tank. If the shape of the tank is not a rectangle and it is hard to measure, trace the shape using a tracing paper.
Trace the shape of the tank to the water resistant fabric with a marker. After you trace the shape onto the fabric, add about 2.5 inches on each side. This is needed to fit the foam noodles inside your fabric cover. You need two pieces of the fabric to form the bottom and the top of your tank cover.
Cut the fabric 0.5 inches larger than required. This extra space is required for sewing.
Place the top and the bottom fabrics, right side against each other, and sew them together on three sides. Leave one side open to fit the foam noodles inside the cover.
Turn the cover inside out, so that your right side of the fabric is now showing. Add the foam noodles inside the cover. Cut them to fit the cover, if required.
Sew the last side together to seal the foam noodles inside the cover. Your floating tank cover is ready for use.
