Instructions
Putting up a Wire Fence with Gates
Measure and mark off your fenceline with the stakes and hammer. You need to place a stake at each corner post, and on each post of the gates you intend to install. These will be where your corner posts are set.
Begin by setting your corner posts. These should be solid pipe or wood and should be set into the ground to a depth of at least four feet. Pour concrete into the post holes and allow to set for seventy-two hours. Brace posts bear the brunt of all the fence stress, so making sure you create them properly is the most important part of your fence construction. A standard H-Brace is acceptable, but an L-Brace or other options are all available. The sturdier you make your brace posts, the longer your fence will last.
Run string from corner post to corner post, to make sure your fence is set in a straight line. Using the string as a guide, run your wire from corner post to corner post, and tighten using your fencing tool.
Complete the wire on all sides of your fence, leaving gaps where the gates are to be hung. Screw in your hinges for your gates on the corner posts, or weld them if the corner posts are metal.
Hang your gates on the hinges and secure them tightly. Test the gate to make sure it swings as intended before tightening.
