How do you remove drain cap on John Deere X300 series Lawnmower?

Step 1: Park your lawnmower on a flat surface and turn off the engine.

Engage the parking brake to keep the lawnmower from rolling.

Step 2: Jack up the rear of the lawnmower.

Please place a block of wood or metal under the front axle to support it while jacking up the rear.

Step 3: Locate the drain cap.

The drain cap is usually located on the bottom of the oil pan. It is a black or silver plastic cap with a 17mm hex head.

Step 4: Remove the drain cap.

Use a 17mm wrench to loosen the drain cap. Be careful not to drop the cap into the oil pan.

Step 5: Allow the oil to drain into an oil pan.

Place an oil pan under the oil drain to catch the oil. Allow the oil to drain until it stops completely.

Step 6: Replace the drain cap.

Once all the oil has drained, replace the drain cap. Tighten the drain cap until it is snug.

Step 7: Lower the lawnmower.

Remove the block of wood or metal from under the front axle and lower the lawnmower.

Step 8: Dispose of the old oil properly.

Dispose of the old oil at a recycling center or by following your local guidelines.

Step 9: Refill the lawnmower with new oil.

Use a funnel to add new oil to the oil fill hole in the engine. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the oil dipstick.
