Instructions
Decide how many pigs will use the structure you are building. Build the hut, at a minimum, the length of your largest pig and twice the width of the animal. Measure the length and width of your largest pig carefully to get the most accurate measurements possible.
Mark two sheets of plywood "Front" and "Rear" walls, two sheets "East" and "West" walls and the last piece of plywood sheeting "Roof."
Situate each piece of plywood sheeting on a saw horse. Measure the wood with a measuring tape and mark the points at which you want to cut with a pencil. Cut the plywood sheeting to the desired size using a hand or power saw. Cut the sheets of plywood based on the length you need your pig hut to be.
Cut pieces of 2-inch by 4-inch boards to fit the interior edges of each sheet of plywood. Base the sizing of the boards on the size that you cut the plywood sheeting. Screw the boards onto the edges of each plywood sheet with an electric drill outfitted with a screwdriver bit. Arrange the "East" wall against the "Rear" wall so that the edges line up. Attach them together with wood screws and a drill. Repeat this process with every wall until you have created a large square box.
Place an additional piece of plywood sheeting on top of the wooden square structure and center the board on top of the structure. Allow 2 inches of overlapping on all sides of the roof. Measure, mark and trim your roof piece accordingly and screw it into place with wood screws using a drill. Size and attach tin roofing material to your structure.
Cut a hole into one wall with a jig saw. Cut the hole large enough for your largest animal to freely move in and out of the hut.
Weatherize your hut by painting it with a polyurethane sealant that is water-resistant. Allow the hut to dry completely before allowing pigs access to the structure.
Set your structure onto another sheet of plywood that you have weatherized so that it acts as a floor board. Cover the floorboard with a thick layer of hay to provide your animal or animals with warmth and comfort.
