How to Fold Rabbit Grooming Table Plans

Grooming tables provide a sturdy surface to care for and prepare a rabbit for show. A grooming table that folds is ideal for travel from show to show, and takes up less space in the barn. A grooming table should be large enough to set your grooming tools on, while also holding an average-sized rabbit. Breeders with extra large breeds should opt for a larger working surface, altering the plans to fit their needs.

Instructions

  1. Build Box

    • 1

Cut plywood into a 2-foot square with a circular saw to form the bottom of the grooming table box.

    • 2

Sand the edges of the plywood with sand paper to get rid of any rough splinters.

    • 3

Cut the trim molding into four 2-foot sections with the mitre saw. Cut the ends at a 45 degree angle.

    • 4

Nail the molding to the edge of the plywood bottom with the finishing nails and hammer forming a box.

    Build the Legs

    • 5

Measure four pieces of the 1-by-2 to 36 inches long. Cut the ends at a 45 degree angle with a mitre saw so they lie flat on the ground when opened.

    • 6

Lie two pieces across each other to form an X. At the center of the X, drill a 2-inch screw through both pieces, connecting them. Do not sink the screw head into the wood.

    • 7

Add the decorative chain to the legs above the screw, twisting the corkscrew end into the wood.

    • 8

Repeat with the two remaining 36-inch sections of 1-by-2 hardwood.

    • 9

Cut two 2-foot sections of 1-by-2 hardwood. Attach one end of the 1-by-2 to one leg with finishing nails and a hammer. Repeat for the other end, attaching it to the second set of legs. Repeat on the back of the legs.

    Attach the Legs and Finish

    • 10

Open the legs of the table.

    • 11

Cut a Velcro tab to fit the top of each leg and attach with glue.

    • 12

Attach the opposite end of the Velcro to the table bottom in the corresponding areas to the four table legs.

    • 13

Stain the table top and legs with wood stain using a paintbrush.

    • 14

Allow to dry before placing a rabbit on the grooming table.
