How to Make Frozen Water Bottles for Rabbits

It's important to keep your pet rabbit cool during the summer months so it doesn't suffer from a heat stroke. Make sure your rabbit remains properly hydrated by providing it with plenty of water. Place a small oscillating fan near the cage, and put a bowl of ice cubes in front of the fan to generate a colder air flow. And give your rabbit something cool to lean against by freezing a water bottle.

Instructions

    • 1

Fill an empty 1-liter plastic bottle with water. Leave two inches of space at the top of the bottle to allow room for the water to expand when it freezes.

    • 2

Place the bottle in the freezer. Wait until the bottle is frozen solid before taking it out.

    • 3

Put a dry sock around the bottle before placing it in the cage so it's more comfortable for the rabbit to lean against. When the ice in the bottle is nearly all melted, switch it with another frozen bottle from the freezer. Make sure to have one or two extra frozen water bottles made ahead of time.

Remove the sock off the melted water bottle. Allow that sock to dry, so it can be used again. Place the melted water bottle in the freezer to use again later.
