Do animals on TV get abused?

Animal actors used in television, film, or other entertainment projects are legally required to be treated with care and respect. The American Humane Association (AHA) has developed a set of guidelines that must be followed in the handling and training of animal performers. These guidelines include:

- Animals must be used only when their use is justified and cannot be replaced with alternative methods such as computer animation or robotics.

- Animals must be handled by experienced professionals who have undergone specialized training in animal care.

- Animals must be provided with proper food, water, rest, exercise, and shelter.

- Animals must not be subjected to any form of abuse, including excessive physical or emotional stress.

- The AHA's guidelines are strictly enforced by the organization, and any violations can result in monetary penalties, license revocation, and criminal prosecution. Additionally, many states and countries have their animal protection laws that must be followed when working with animal actors.
