How do baby koalas stay on their moms back?

Koala joeys cling tightly to their mother's belly, using their strong forelimbs, also known as "claws". The mothers have a specially developed thick fur that aids their newborn youngs grip as they navigate their first few months attached to mama koala. Baby koalas are born after just over a month long gestation period in their mother's pouches, where they continue to develop further after birth; only venturing out once developed enough.
