Socialize the chickens so they are comfortable with human contact. According to Entrel's About-Pets website, the Dominique is a good show chicken. The breed enjoys attention and will let you hold them if you approach them calmly.
How to Raise Dominique Chickens
Dominique chickens are the oldest breed in the United States. The breed originated from feral chickens brought to the Americas by European settlers. The original name of the chicken was the Dominicker. From the Dominique came other breeds such as the Common and the Barred Plymouth Rock. The Dominique chicken is less expensive to raise since they will scratch for food if necessary. The Dominique is cared for much like other chickens, but there are a few differences to keep in mind when raising this breed.
