How to Give a Baby Goat Raspberry Leaves for Diarrhea

Young goats, or kids, often get diarrhea from something they have eaten or after eating too much. If diarrhea continues after two days, or if it is accompanied by other symptoms such as a high fever, low temperature or increased inactivity, it is important to find a treatment to soothe the diarrhea. Raspberry leaves can be used to combat diarrhea naturally and can be administered in a number of ways. The leaves should be fed to the kid once a day for three days to treat the diarrhea.

Instructions

    • 1

Crush raspberry leaves in to a fine powder with a pestle and mortar. Dried raspberry leaves will crumble easily. Collect 8 tbsp. of the crushed leaves to use for in a dosage ball or, alternatively, mix the leaves with water or the mother's milk to feed to the kid using a syringe.

Add the crushed raspberry leaves to 4 tbsp. of slippery elm bark, which has also been crushed to form a powder. Also add a 1/4 cup of honey and mix together.

    • 3

Roll the mixture into 16 evenly sized dosage balls. This can be fed directly to an adult goat; but to feed a kid break, it down into smaller pieces.

    • 4

Offer a piece of one of the dosage balls to the baby goat. If it does not show any interest in eating the ball insert it into the goat's mouth. Most goats and kids enjoy the taste of the dosage balls once they try them. If the goat spits the ball out insert it further back into the kid's mouth.
