How do I Treat Hog Lice?

Hog lice are the largest blood-sucking parasites found on pigs, and infest both wild and domestic species. These pests can be found in the folds of skin on a swine's neck, jowls, ears, flanks and legs. A swine infected with hog lice will scratch or rub itself to the point of causing sore, thickened and cracked skin. Initially, your entire herd should be treated with preventative medications for hog lice. However, if a pig is infested with lice, quick treatment is important so it doesn't spread to others in the herd.
