Instructions for Hog Wormer Pellets

Hog wormer, also for pigs and swine, is a necessity for hog owners. The wormer rids the hog's body of harmful intestinal worms. These worms can cause intestinal bleeding and other internal damage and following health problems. The pellet, a soluble solution to these worms, is an easy way to rid the worms from the hog's intestines. The pellet is made up largely of protein.
  1. Weighing the Hog

    • Weigh the hog before determining dosage. Per 100 pounds of weight, feed the hog 4 pounds of wormer pellets, mixed in with food.

    Time Periods

    • Hogs should receive a needed worming treatment for at least three days, but no more than 12. Consult a farm veterinarian if you're unsure about the treatment. When administering the pellets in the food, make sure the hogs are separated as to get the proper dosage.

    Not Eating

    • If a finicky hog avoids the pellets, a soluble form is available in a powder that is mixed with water and then fed to the hog. Most hogs will simply eat the pellets when they are mixed in with food as it will be too late to stop once their appetite has taken over. If hogs are simply refusing to eat the mixture, consult a veterinarian.
