What do wild camels eat?

Wild camels are herbivores and their diet consists primarily of:

* Grasses: They are grazers and prefer to eat a variety of grasses, including those that are dry and tough.

* Shrubs and bushes: They browse on shrubs and bushes, especially during dry seasons when grasses are scarce.

* Leaves: They can reach high into trees and shrubs to get to leaves, thanks to their long necks.

* Fruits and seeds: They also consume fruits and seeds when available.

* Water: Wild camels are very efficient at conserving water, but they do need to drink regularly.

Interestingly:

* They can survive on very little water, especially during the dry season. They can obtain moisture from the plants they eat.

* They have a special adaptation that helps them conserve water: they can close their nostrils and mouths to prevent water loss during breathing.

* They have a large hump that stores fat, which can be used as energy when food is scarce.

Important Note: Wild camels are endangered, with only around 1,000 remaining in the wild. Their survival is threatened by habitat loss, hunting, and competition with livestock.
