Alfalfa and molasses blocks are a type of hay concentrate frequently fed to domestic horses, to supplement grazing and hay. Alfalfa boasts a high protein content. It often comes in blocks or pellets, which should be soaked in hot water to make it palatable for the horses. If the pellets are not soaked, a chance of the horse choking increases. Some brand names of alfalfa and molasses are harder than other brands, and may need longer to soak in order to soften it for the horses to eat.
