How to Feed Lactating Cows

Lactating cows have different nutritional needs than the other cows in a herd, so it is important to feed a lactating cow properly to ensure that it keeps up sufficient milk production. Since a newborn calf requires up to 20 pounds of milk each day to grow properly and stay healthy, its mother must get enough nutrients to keep up with demand during those first few critical months of the growth of a newborn calf.
