Things You'll Need
- 2 45-degree, 5-inch diameter PVC pipe elbows
- 1 piece of 5-inch diameter PVC pipe, 2-feet to 6-feet long
- Electric drill
- 1/4-inch drill bit
- 24-inch piece of wire
- PVC pipe end cap
Instructions
Hold a 45-degree elbow in your left hand and second 45-degree elbow in your right hand.
Insert the male end of one of the 45-degree elbows into the female end of the other 45-degree elbow. You may have to twist the two pieces back and forth until they seat. Twist the two pieces until they form a U-shape.
Insert a piece of 5-inch diameter pipe into the female end of the unfitted 45-degree elbow. Push them together until they seat. The longer the pipe is, the more feed it will hold.
Using an electric drill equipped with a 1/4-inch drill bit, drill two 1/4-inch holes on opposite sides of the pipe, 2 inches down from the top of the straight pipe.
Slide a 24-inch piece of wire through the two holes and twist the ends of the wire together to form a loop.
Hang the feeder in the corner of a chicken coop or chicken run so that the bottom lip of the lowest 45 degree elbow is 6 inches above the ground. Use the wire loop to hang it from an eye hook.
Fill the PVC pipe feeder with chicken feed and place a PVC end cap on top of the pipe. The end cap will protect the feed from moisture if it hangs outside.
