Things You'll Need
- Pig or goat milk replacer or condensed milk and water
- Saucepan or microwave proof container
- Baby bottle
- Nipple
Instructions
Mix a formula of pig or goat milk replacer according to the manufacturer's instructions. You can find replacer at farm or feed stores. If you do not have replacer on hand, dilute one part canned condensed milk with two parts water.
Pour the formula into a saucepan or a microwave-proof container.
Warm the formula to body temperature, using a stove or microwave. Test the temperature of the formula by squirting a drop on the inside of your wrist. If it feels warm, remove the container from the heat source for a few minutes. If it feels cold, continue heating.
Fill a human baby bottle with the formula and place the nipple on the bottle.
Feed the piglet with the pig lying on its stomach.
Teach the piglet to drink from a bowl after a few days. Pour the milk into a shallow bowl, place it on the floor, and dunk the piglet's nose in the bowl. It make take a few attempts, but most piglets learn to drink from the bowl quickly, and it saves you time.
