How do beavers get into their dams?

Beavers don't actually "get into" their dams. The dam is a structure they build, not a place they live.

Beavers build their lodges near their dams. Lodges are dome-shaped shelters built from branches, mud, and rocks. They have an underwater entrance that leads to a dry, cozy living space.

Here's how it works:

1. Dam Building: Beavers build dams to create a pond or lake, which provides them with a safe place to live and access to food.

2. Lodge Building: Near the dam, they build a lodge, a more permanent home.

3. Underwater Entrance: The lodge has an underwater entrance, so they can easily enter and exit without exposing themselves to predators.

So, while the dam is essential to their lifestyle, it's not their living space. They live in the lodges, which are connected to the dam.
