How tall does an elk get?

Elk can get quite tall! The average height for an adult male elk (bull) at the shoulder is 5 feet (1.5 meters), while females (cows) are slightly shorter, around 4 feet (1.2 meters).

However, there is some variation depending on the subspecies and location. For example, Roosevelt elk are generally larger than Rocky Mountain elk. Some individuals can even reach heights of 6 feet (1.8 meters) or more!
