How many stomachs do ruminants animals have?

Ruminants actually have four stomachs, but they are connected and work as one digestive system. The four stomachs are:

1. Rumen: The largest stomach, where the food is fermented by bacteria.

2. Reticulum: This stomach sorts food and allows larger pieces to return to the mouth for further chewing.

3. Omasum: This stomach absorbs water and nutrients from the food.

4. Abomasum: This stomach is the true stomach, where digestive enzymes are secreted to break down food.
