How to Comb Out Cashmere

Cashmere is a fiber commonly removed from cashmere goats and is soft and light, yet very strong. During the spring season, goats will naturally begin shedding their hair. At this time, goat farmers collect the hair and sell it for profit. Cashmere has been removed from goats and used for a variety of purposes since around the 3rd century BC. Today, the fibers are brushed, cleaned and used to make items such as clothing and blankets.

Wipe off any surface debris from the goat's coat with an old towel.

    • 3

Comb the hair with a natural bristle brush and gather the fiber that comes loose. Work in small sections at a time.

Place the fibers in a resealable plastic bag until they can be cleaned.
