Attar
-
Traditional attar is the epitome of alcohol-free perfume. For thousands of years, people have made rich, luxurious attars requiring no alcohol using the most potent of aromatic botanicals--especially in the Far and Middle East regions. The base ingredient of alcohol-free attar is amber resin, which provides the attar with its oily base and scent-holding ability. Amber resin is believed to be an aphrodisiac when added to feminine perfumes. Melting down amber resin allows you to add your choice of essential oils to create a rich, sultry scent without using alcohol. For every ounce of amber resin, avoid exceeding more than 1 tsp. of combined fragrance oil.
Creme
-
Creme perfume combines the silkiness of lotion with the fragrance of cologne without using skin-drying alcohol in the formula. Making a homemade creme perfume ranges in difficulty from mindlessly easy to moderately difficult, depending on your level of comfort with crafting your own hygiene products. The easiest way to obtain an alcohol-free body lotion that has no scent is to make our own. Most hypoallergenic lotions are alcohol and scent-free. For every 8 oz. of creamy lotion, add no more than 1 tsp. of fragrance oil. This ratio creates a heavily perfumed cream that can be rubbed into the skin where you'd normally spray the scent. If you know how to make your own alcohol-free lotion, making a creamy lotion will be a breeze.
Water Spray
-
Distilled water is the main ingredient in this alcohol-free homemade perfume, which requires virtually no work at all. In fact, water-based perfume is the easiest way to make perfume without using alcohol or heavy oils. This method allows you to make a versatile spray that can be used on the skin, on linens and in the air. Mix 8 oz. of distilled water with 1/2 oz. of essential oil blend to create your spray.
Oil Perfume
-
Oil perfume is heavy and best suited for roll-on applicators. Roll-on oil perfume can be created with a carrier oil of your choice--usually something with skin benefits like coconut, rose hip or apricot--and a small amount of essential oil. For 2 oz. of carrier oil, add 1 tsp. of essential oil.

Homemade Nonalcoholic Perfume
Homemade perfumes give the creator the opportunity to experiment with a wide array of different materials. For instance, alcohol-free perfumes contain a multitude of oils, resins and even waxes to carry the scents blended to be worn on the skin. Homemade perfume without alcohol suits people with sensitive skin and allergies or people who just don't like the drying feeling of alcohol on their skin.
