How to Build a Simple Goat Pen for 4H

Building a 4-H goat pen is relatively simple and requires only a couple of hours to complete. The goat pen must be big enough to allow goats room to grow and to develop muscle while being secure enough to keep dogs out. You can build a 16 X 16 square foot goat pen that will provide both security and growth room for goats.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the post driver to drive one of the 6-foot steel posts into the ground to a depth of 1 1/2 feet.

    • 2

Measure 16 feet from the first post using the tape measure and drive another 6-foot post 1 1/2 feet deep.

    • 3

Repeat this process for the remaining posts.

    • 4

Lift and place one of the stock panels against the first and second posts that were driven.

    • 5

Cut two 4-inch pieces of baling wire and secure the panel to the post by securely twisting it around the panel and post at the top and the bottom.

    • 6

Repeat this same procedure for the rest of the panels until you come to the last post.

    • 7

Connect one of the two-sided snaps at the top of the final post and one at the bottom.

    • 8

Move the last panel into place and connect it with the snaps.
