Instructions
Approach the goat with the halter and allow it to sniff the halter to get used to it.
Hold the halter with your left hand, while putting your right arm gently but firmly around the goat's neck to prevent it from running away.
Hold the halter in the position it would be fitted on the goat, with the nose piece at the bottom.
Slide the halter over the goat's nose and use your right hand to catch the loose end on the right-hand side of the goat's head.
Pull the piece of rope to fit behind the goat's ears and run it through the loop at the top of the cheek piece.
Slide the loop upwards by pulling on the rope until the halter fits comfortably.
Pass the rope end behind the loop toward the goat's eye, and thread it to go over the loop and under the rope.
Tie a loop in the rope if the excess piece is still a bit long. The end result should be a knot that looks a bit like an X with the rope's tail pointing toward the goat's shoulder.
How to Tie a Rope Halter on a Goat
Goat rope halters are used to tie the goat to a post for a short while, or to make it easier for you to lead the goat. Most goat owners use a special goat halter or mini horse halter on their goats, consisting of a strap around the nose, one strap on each side of the head, a cheek piece and a strap around the goat's head to fit behind the ears. This strap is then fastened with a buckle or, in the case of a rope halter, with a knot.
