Things You'll Need
- Pail
- Stool
Instructions
Set the stool down next to the goat's udder and take a seat next to her. Position the stool so that you can easily reach her teats, or nipples, for milking. Set the pail under her udder.
Cover the opening to one of her teats with your thumb.
Wrap your hand and fingers around the top of one of the teats and squeeze in a downward motion and release your thumb. This should start the flow of milk.
Bump her bag. This is a technique a kid does when he wants his mother to let down more milk. He takes his head and bumps it against the side of her udder. Take the palm of your hand and bump it against the side of her udder a few times to replicate the feeling of a kid bumping her udder or bag with his head. This should either start the flow of milk, if you are having trouble from the beginning, or help her to release the last of her milk at the end of a milking session.
