How to Feed Goats Cedar Tree Branches

While it may be a common belief that goats will eat "anything," they do have some culinary taste. They are natural foragers and will appreciate yard clippings, fruit and vegetable scraps, and tree branches. After pruning a cedar tree, you can feed the excess branches to your goats.

Instructions

    • 1

Prune a cedar tree by cutting back several off-shooting branches from the main branches.

    • 2

Inspect the branches for any signs of parasitic growth that may be poisonous to goats. Remove any such branches from the pile you will feed to the goats.

    • 3

Hold the end of the branches and stand near the goats, letting the other end of the branch hover closely to their mouths so they can comfortably reach the offering without standing up on their hind legs or craning their necks. If you worry about too many goats scrambling for food and using you as ladder, or if your goats are not tame, leave the cedar branches in a feeding trough for the goats to discover on their own.
