How to Feed Corn Gluten to Goats

Corn gluten is a byproduct of the process of making corn starch and corn syrup. It is often used as a dietary supplement for goats and cattle as it is very high in protein. Various corn gluten products are mixed into daily feed at levels specific to the product. It is considered a high-energy food source and is used for meat and dairy goats alike.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy corn gluten pellets. These can be used to feed goats between regular feeding times as afternoon snacks or treats. They are lightweight and easy to haul between pastures.

    • 2

Mix corn gluten meal with regular feed. Wet and dry varieties are available, but dry corn gluten meal mixes are the easiest to add to existing feed. Levels of more than 15% of corn gluten meal in feed mixtures are not recommended as livestock find it unpalatable beyond these levels.

Try corn gluten feed. This is by far the healthiest corn gluten product to feed your goats. Up to 50% of feed can be made of corn gluten feed as it is easily digestible and contains the same levels of digestible nutrients as barley.
