Step 1: Remove the horn from the skull
Use a saw to carefully cut the horn off of the skull at the base. Be sure to clean any remaining tissue or flesh from the horn.
Step 2: Salt-cure the horn
Cover the horn with salt and let it sit in a cool, dry place for several weeks. The salt will draw out any remaining moisture and help preserve the horn.
Step 3: Clean the horn
After the salt-curing process, rinse the horn with water and scrub it with a brush to remove any remaining debris or salt. Let it dry completely.
Step 4: Apply a sealant
Apply a sealant, such as a clear lacquer or varnish, to the horn to protect it from moisture damage. This will also help to preserve its color and shine.
Step 5: Display your preserved horn
Your preserved horn can now be displayed as a trophy, decoration, or piece of art.
