Instructions
Using a saw, cut the gate for a hog trap from a piece of plywood that is half an inch thick. The gate should be three feet wide and four to eight feet high.
Slide the gate into one runner on each side. Make the runners out of one eight foot long 1"x4" board between two eight foot long 2"x6" boards. Hold the runners apart with a 2"x4" attached to the top and bottom of each runner.
Make the door frame stable by attaching 2"x6" diagonal braces to the front and back of it.
Hold up the gate by tying a piece of quarter-inch braided nylon rope to the top of the door, and then running the rope through the eyebolt at the top of the gate frame.
Attach a latch to the inside of the side runner with a screw. When the latch is pushed out of the way, the door should be able to be lifted to the open position and the latch should be held open by the door. When the door drops, the latch should clear the top of the closed door and swing over it. This will prevent the hogs from escaping through the door.
