Things You'll Need
- Shovel
- Dirt
- Water
Instructions
Dig a shallow depression in the ground. Make it large enough for however many pigs will be using it at one time. The hole should be about a foot deep, with gently sloping sides, so your pigs can easily climb in and out.
Layer the pit with soil if your ground is mostly hard clay, or another substance which doesn't produce a good mud. Garden soil can be bought by the sack or truck load from garden supply stores.
Add water to your dirt-filled pit. Start with enough to moisten everything down. Continue adding until you have mud, instead of a puddle. The amount of water will depend on how large your pit is. As the mud pit dries, simply add more water.
