- A male guinea pig has a prominent 'boar bump' located just above and in front of the genital opening.
- The distance between the genital opening and the anus is much greater than that of a female.
- The males reproductive organ and the anus will not overlap.
- Males tend to be larger than females.
Female Guinea Pigs:
- A female guinea pig lacks the boar bump.
- The genital opening is closer to the anus.
- The anus and the reproductive organ overlap with the vagina and urethra being on the underside.
- Females tend to be smaller than males.
Additional Tips:
1. Lift your guinea pig up and place them with their underside facing you.
2. Part the fur gently so you can locate their reproductive organs and/or ‘boar bump’ if male.
3. Examine the distance from the reproductive opening to the anus.
