How to Troubleshoot a Cattle Micro Weigh Machine

Farmers weigh their cattle to ensure the livestock is gaining the appropriate weight to be milked or to produce beef for the market. Each cow enters into a crush gate, which is a type of cage to keep the cow confined. The farmer has the weight device under the crush gate, with the weight monitor unit attached by a wire line. The types of cows weighed include standard size to micro-miniature cattle that are only 36 inches or less when full grown.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the weight is centered under the cattle crush gate if receiving the wrong reading. Remove cow from the crush gate and flip unit over.

    • 2

Inspect the cord leading to the weighing load bar. Uninstall current load bar and install new load bar if any kinks or frayed wiring are found. Secure any loose bolts with a wrench. Upright the crush gate and load the cow inside to receive a reading.

    • 3

Evaluate the weight monitor device. Check the wire connection to the device for looseness. Remove the battery and recharge it if no reading appears on the screen.

    • 4

Reset the weight if it doesn't change from weighing one cow to another. Release the "Hold" key to clear the data from the last reading. Turn off the unit, wait five minutes, and turn the unit back on to clear the memory.
