Dip Tank Cleaning

Dip tanks are handy for cleaning, degreasing, painting stripping, dip painting, tanning or electroplating an object. Additionally, use a dip tank to clean your oven racks, grill tops, charred rack, clean parts and subassemblies that do not require the use of larger rinse tanks.

Instructions

    • 1

Inspect your dip tank before you start the cleaning process. Ensure that overflow pipes, electric wiring, covers, ventilating systems and bottom drains and valves are in proper working condition. Correct any problems you identify during the inspection process to enhance safety during cleaning.

    • 2

Prepare the tank before you clean by ventilating the tank to clear accumulated vapors and draining the contents.

    • 3

Wear protective gear because the dip tank uses liquids that may contain chemicals which can burn your skin if you come into contact with them during cleaning.

    • 4

Ensure that the dip tank can withhold the expected load to be immersed in the tank. Place the dip tank on a source of heat and heat it to the required temperature before you dip the objects to be cleaned.

    • 5

Attach metal hangers to an object and partially or completely immerse or suspend it in the dip tank to be cleaned by the cleaning liquid. Set the object in the tank for the required time then lift to allow the chemical to drain off. Repeat the cleaning process until you achieve the desired results.

    • 6

Have a fire extinguisher nearby when using a flammable liquid in the dip tank to put out a fire that may start during the cleaning process.
