What animals are misupials?

The only animals that are classified misupials are the opossums. Other animals that resemble opossums are usually either marsupials, or the superficial likeness is merely a coincidence. The main difference is that opossums are New World animals exclusively, and marsupials in general are more restricted to Australia and some outlying areas of that continent.
