Centrosomes are found in animal cells, but not in plant cells. In animal cells, the centrosome is located near the nucleus and consists of two centrioles, which are cylindrical structures made of microtubules. Centrioles play a crucial role in organizing the spindle fibers during cell division, ensuring the proper segregation of chromosomes into daughter cells.
However, plant cells lack centrioles and instead have a different structure called the microtubule organizing center (MTOC). The MTOC is responsible for organizing microtubules in plant cells, which play essential roles in various cellular processes such as cell division, cell expansion, and intracellular transport.
