Can cows eat too much grass?
Cows have a four-chambered stomach, which allows them to digest large amounts of cellulose-rich plant material, including grass. However, cows can also suffer from digestive problems if they eat too much grass. For example, cows that graze on lush, high-quality grass may experience bloat, a condition in which the rumen fills with gas and the cow cannot belch. Bloat can be fatal if not treated promptly. Additionally, cows that eat too much grass may also experience diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration and other health problems. Therefore, it is important for farmers to monitor the amount of grass that their cows are eating and to take steps to prevent overeating.
