Where does the water buffalo originate from?
Water buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis) originated from the marshlands of eastern and southern Asia. They are native to the Indian subcontinent, including India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka, as well as Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar.
