What is the relationship between a deer and tic?
A deer tick (also called a blacklegged tick) is a species of hard-bodied tick of the family Ixodidae. Ticks are not insects but arachnids, related to spiders and scorpions. They feed on the blood of mammals, birds, and reptiles. Deer ticks are found throughout much of the eastern and central United States and are known to carry Lyme disease, a bacterial infection that can cause fever, headaches, and fatigue and, if not treated, can lead to serious health problems, including arthritis, heart disease, and neurological problems.
