What do bushtail possums eat?

Bushtail possums are omnivores and opportunistic feeders. Their diet consists of a wide variety of plant and animal matter such as fruits, leaves, buds, young shoots, insects, and occasionally bird eggs and small vertebrates. They are known to raid orchards and poultry houses, causing considerable damage. Bushtail possums also feed on various kinds of fruits, such as apples, pears, grapes, and berries, and even on introduced species of fruit such as olives. They are also known to feed on nectar from flowering plants, and have even been observed feeding on carrion.
